Houston sports and I go back as far as I can remember. As a teenager, my parents and I had Houston Oiler season tickets for three seasons in the middle of the “Run and Shoot” era. We watched the Oilers win a lot of games during that stretch… we even took a nice family trip to Buffalo, New York to witness what turned out to be a historic game. I think anyone visiting this site knows what I’m talking about.
The years went on, and the championships never came – until a few days after OJ Simpson took a ride in a white Ford Bronco. There I stood, arms in the air, fists clenched in victory in front of the television as Hakeem Olajuwon and the Rockets brought the city its first major championship… and again the next season with Clyde Drexler.
I’ve lived in and around Houston and Austin – I even lived a few years in Los Angeles, but no matter where I was, I never really cared about any professional sports teams other than the ones who play in the Bayou City. Hopefully some of you can bring your passion and knowledge to the table and you’ll enjoy this little site.
