How best to know your enemy? Write about them!

Posted by: Chris on April 14th at 11:19AM

Okay. Deep breath. Some of you guys aren’t going to like this – but hear me out.

As a few of you have already heard – yes – it is true. I have taken on an additional blogging job, and I will be writing about the HATED Tennessee Titans. No, really. I will be spending some of my time writing about those filthy, disgusting, foothill-dwelling, musket-owning, Sudafed-frying, three-toothed, wood-whittling, money under the mattress-keeping, 2nd grade level-reading, baby-eating, sister-humping Titans.

Let me make something abundantly clear. I CHOSE THE TITANS over other teams (Bengals and Seahawks) because I simply don’t know those teams like I know the Titans. I’ve been wanting to expand my horizons a bit, while still covering the NFL, and this seems a perfect fit because I know the Titans better than any team other than our boys in Steel Blue.

Since I started HoustonDiehards in July of 2007, it wasn’t long before I started getting offers to blog about the Texans elsewhere. Several of us in the “Texans Blogosphere” have had these same offers. They come and go fairly often, actually… but here’s the thing – most of those places (all of them?) want EXCLUSIVE Texans content, meaning that I couldn’t “simulcast” an article here and at another Texans blog. I just won’t do that, because not only would I have to write twice as much Texans content – I’d also have to choose which blog to put the entries in – and I think you guys know me well enough to know that this blog will ALWAYS be my number one.

So, it would be pretty disingenuous of me to do two different Texans blogs, because I would always put what I consider to be the “best” material on HoustonDiehards… thus, the other blog would get shortchanged.

The next best thing would be to write about the Rockets or the Astros – but I’m so, SO much more of an NFL fan than I am a fan of any other sport. I just wouldn’t be able to write about those sports with enough passion or interest.

So, no – I’m not “switching” sides to the Titans. I’m not a Titans fan, nor will I blog as a Titans fan at this new site. It’s actually going to be somewhat of an interesting experiment, I think. This blog has always been as much about my enjoyment of WRITING as it has been my love for the Texans (and the NFL in general), so I will have no problem applying that elsewhere.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt that the new job is actually a paying gig – not very much at all, but it’s not based on clicks or traffic (which usually amounts to pennies), it’s a flat fee and I’ve done my due diligence to confirm it’s legitimacy.

You didn’t think I’d write about the Titans for free, did you? Hell no. I already read a handful of Titan blogs just in the interest of keeping up with the bad guys – so why not use that and get some more experience to “pad the resume” so to speak?

So that’s what’s up. Nothing – NOTHING AT ALL – will change at HoustonDiehards. It is a bit odd that in a time where I barely have time to post at HDH, I’m taking on another writing job – but things should be getting back to normal in the not too distant future, and the new site won’t take as much of my time as I was afraid it would. Right now the “commitment” fits into my schedule well, and when my personal life evens out a bit more in the next couple of months – I’ll be able to do much more both here and at the new place.

I’ll put the link to the new blog up once I’ve made a couple of posts there. For now though, I’ve got some new content for HDH coming up very soon.

So uh… what do you think? Do I even want to know?

Doesn’t bother me, as a job is a job. I wish I was in a profession I loved enough to take on a second helping of it.

I do dislik…err make that HATE Bud Adams and wish him nothing but misery and pain, so make sure the entries reflect what and awful owner and person he is.

Who are you..?? I don’t think I know you anymore! Sell your soul for silver!! You are sooo lost, there must be meetings you can go to..goosefabaa…goosefaba. I will find someone religious and have them pray for you.

None of us expected him to end up like this. It was so sudden and unexpected. We’ll miss him, cause what we get back won’t be the same. But, we’ll always have the memories.

@goat – I can’t believe it took this long. I thought BFD would be the first to point out that “similarity”. Hahaha

As long as I don’t stumble across any pictures of you dancing shirtless with VY then I don’t have a problem with it.

Unceremoniously rip the Texans logos off your peanut butter and jelly stained Ryans jersy. Notice that you really do have a mohawk like your avatar, and I smell a waft of 2 week old body grime. You smile weakly and I see the rot on your nubby gray teeth. Go blog the BESF’s looks like you already have made all the preparations.
