Check out my Texans first-round pick…

For the second or third time now, I’ve been asked to participate in a “mock draft among blogs” over at an awesome Cleveland Browns blog called NoLogoNeeded.com.

I’ve participated in several of these over the last few years, and I have to say this was the easiest choice I’ve ever made. It’s also sadly unrealistic.

Check out who I landed for us by clicking here. If you would have made a different choice, I want to hear about it fo sho.

    Us guys doing Naked backflips? Put a hot poker in my minds eye, but that pick would be great.

    We would never recover from the sight, but the cost would be worth it…

    … uh, right?

    Ahhhh, that made my day. Time to wake up now. The only way that draft could get more unrealistic is for the Falcons to take Haden at 19. Charles Brown? Taylor Mays that early? Hey, I hope it happens. Not sure about the naked backflip part, though.

    !!!!GO COWBOYS!!!!

    I’m just kidding. Hi everyone, this is Chris’s little brother just checking in.

    On the draft pick though, I have to agree with you that Haden will be long gone, since i beleive that San Fran would not let him get past them even if he does slide. In a recent mock I put together i had you guys getting Earl Thomas (even though that is the guy i want Dallas to get, but i am realistic) I do think that Williams will be a great pick but, like the Boys, this draft is so deep I think if those two are gone you look to trading down with someone like baltimore or even into the front of the second round. lots of things would have to happen in order for a trade to work but, stranger things have happened.

    There are some great round 2 and 3 safeties(allen, burnett, and the joneses)

    Keep up the good work!

    Okay, if Haden is on the board, we don’t take Ryan Mathews. You finally found a guy who I think the Texans will rate higher than One-T. :^)

    Yeah this is awesome. But no way mcclain or mays get picked that high. Mcclain probably falls to the giants, and mays might not make the first round.

    Haden is the one ideal pick for us IMO, so therefore it will never happen.

    I actually wouldn’t mind seeing mays picked over mathews if we trade back.

    If we get Haden, streaking around reliant and Kyle and Chris will join me whether they like it or not!!!!!

    Plzzz lord let Earl Thomas be on the draft board for our beloved Texans!!!!!!!…. AMEN LOL…….Safety isn’t one of our needs but Thomas is good to pass up. I agree with the Joe Haden pick. We can always pick up a well needed RB in the 2nd. By going defense in the first round, McNair is shouting,” DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!!!!”:))

    @Allen

    Don’t count out Taylor Mays early. The Giants need a SS and have taken 4 DB’s with their first pick since 2000. Everyone assumes McClain, but, if any team would get turned off by Crohn’s disease, it’s the Giants who just finished dealing with losing Kenny Phillips to a non-football medical condition.

    @Kyle

    that’s a really good point actually. They can get spikes in round 2 or 3 probably.

    My point on mays is this. He is the hardest player to pick where he goes. He could got as high as 8 and as low as mid second. I’ve seen a lot of mocks, and it’s possible there are at least 32 better prospects than mays. But it also takes just one team, and the giants seem like a great fit to me too

    This probably means absolutely nothing but Rob Rang at NFL Draft Scout/CBS Sports.com also sees Haden falling into the Texans’ lap.

    http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/mock

    There are 4 mocks posted there and the other 3 all see Haden going no lower than #10. I tend to agree with them and you, Chris, that the top ranked CB before the combine will be long gone before the Texans’ get to pick. I also agree wholeheartedly with your mock selection because filling the CB void is a must. If Haden is still on the board at 20, Rick Smith may break the record for the quickest 1st round pick in history.
