This is a blog post. I shall call it “Hello Stranger”

So, about that draft coverage I promised you. Yeah, it turns out things are insane right now. For the first two years of this blog, this time of year has been my bread and butter. “There is no offseason” could have been a legitimate tagline.

Well, here in offseason #3, things have gone a bit haywire. My personal life is in a very strange place right now. Without boring you with details, the short version is this – I’m now living in Northern Virginia of all places, but just for a few months. I’m hoping to be back in Texas by the start of football season at the latest. I have some family obligations to take care of here after my father-in-law passed away. He was a great man, and a great football fan. He constantly told me how much he liked this blog – even though he was a born and raised, diehard Cowboys fan. He supported the Texans too – but in that way the condescending older brother pats his little brother on the head, if you know what I mean.

Yes, I married into a Cowboys family. Yes, it’s hard. Especially now that I get to drive his car around, which has a big Dallas Cowboys sticker in the back window – keeping in mind that I’m now right at Ground Zero of Washington Redskin country. I’ve had a few people honk and yell at me while driving that car around. If only I had time to explain to them that “hey! I’m not a Cowboys fan!!!!!! Never!!!!”

One time when my family was visiting up here in Virginia, my mother fell asleep on the couch in their living room. My father-in-law found a Cowboys blanket, laid it over her, took a picture, and sent it to me soon after we left. I never got him back for that. Curses!

So, hello – how are you – and I’m sorry I’ve been absent. Unfortunately, it’s going to be this way for a little while, but soon I hope to have more time to devote to this place.

By the way – if you guys ever wanted to make guest entries – this would be the time for it. I’ve got a crazy mock draft from Kyle that I will be posting soon – but if anyone else has something they want to get off their chest, that would be bananas. Bananas, I say.

Thanks for letting us in your life man, sounds like a full plate. I use to live in DC and one thing I hate more than a Cowboys fan is a skins fan. They are the worst, except my friend John. I love that part of the country though. I miss it and never wanted to move back. It was just in my best interest. And I change my mind John is the worst too.

I was in alexandria just last weekend brother. You owe it to yourself to enjoy at least being able to get away even though the circumstances are far from ideal. Sorry to hear…
