Mid-week Texans notes, Reggie Bust amuses

Cleaning up some small here-and-there items for the week:

The Texans released WR Darnell Jenkins on October 22nd.
Somehow, this escaped my attention. When the Texans waived DE Tim Jamison to make room on the roster for LB Jamie Winborn, they had to clear a spot for Jamison to rejoin the practice squad. The guy who they let go was Jenkins, who I thought had a real shot to make this team back in September. I wouldn’t expect Jenkins to be unemployed for too long. If he is, I would expect we haven’t seen the last of him as a Texan.

Andre Johnson (lung contusion) didn’t practice today, but ran on his own.
Gary Kubiak said Andre “took a step forward” today, and Johnson himself said yesterday he’s feeling much better on his Twitter feed. Sounds like he’ll be fine.

Brian Cushing (sore foot) again didn’t practice today.
He played great after missing most of practice the week before the Bengals game, and health didn’t seem to be a problem for him against the 49ers. The problem was Vernon Davis. Anyway, I assume they’ll continue to limit Cushing at least through the bye week.

If the Texans were ever going to get the running game going…
…it would be this week. You’ve probably already heard this, but if not – the Bills are dead last in the NFL in run defense, giving up an eye-popping 172.4 yards per game.

Reggie Bust thinks he’s going to win an MVP, BUAHAHAHA!!!!
Just skip past all the stuff about the Saints going undefeated, and go straight to the good stuff. I guess we shouldn’t expect anything less from a guy who wears gold shoes. If they give an MVP award out to guys who run out of bounds to avoid contact, then yes – he’s among the frontrunners for the MVP award.

I have a better chance of being hired as the beat writer for the Tennessee Titans than Reggie Bush does of winning an MVP award. Insert other ridiculous exaggerations here.

All I know is that he can have my vote for MVP as long as I can get a night with Kim. She is smoking! I do not like the J in the T, but I luv her face!

It seems like every year we read about how Reggie has turned a corner and is poised for a breakout year. Must be nice to earn millions of dollars and only have to take 5 carries a game.

Vince Young has a better chance of getting an MVP than Bush does. Though the snowy day in hell is still the odds-on favorite.

Dunta Robinson and J.Reeves are getting trashed in a ESPN Insider article. I guess Texans fans aren’t the only ones realizing how our “supposedly” top tier CB isn’t so top tier after all. Here’s a copy/paste of part of the article below:

Struggling cornerbacks No. 1 and No. 2: Houston Texans CBs Dunta Robinson and Jacques Reeves
This is a call to all Terrell Owens owners. You’ve been wondering why he’s still on your roster despite posting only 13 points in the past five weeks. This week’s matchup against Reeves will pay you back in part for your patience.

Reeves is currently plugging along at a subpar 8.4 yards per attempt (YPA), and that number would probably be even worse if not for Robinson and his completely unacceptable 10.8 YPA. Robinson’s total is actually worse than Reeves’ total on many levels, as Reeves missed the beginning of the season with an injury and Robinson has played in every contest. But the bottom line is that they are both target-worthy cornerbacks.

Bottom Line — Owens should post his second double-digit game of the year and is therefore a must start this week. Lee Evans should also extend his double-digit point streak to three games and is also a must start.

    @Gerb

In all honesty, this is probably why Dunta walks at the end of the year. However, if we don’t sign a veteran cornerback to replace him, I’ll be very ticked off. The last thing we need is to replace our subpar starting corners with a young guy who doesn’t know what he’s doing. That said, I support drafting Joe Haden if he falls to a good value, but he better not be our #1 option next year.
