HDH Fantasy Football open thread, week 8

Filed in: Fantasy Football, Houston Texans & NFL
Posted by: Chris on October 27th at 8:30AM

UPDATE: When you guys are posting your trade offers/available players in the comments, can you (at least once in the comments) please also put your team name in there somewhere? Since the poster names don’t match the team names, it’s tough for me to keep them all straight – especially with 14 teams. Thanks! -Chris

Lots of trade talk in last week’s open thread, but no trades. There are still lots of folks who need help and are willing to deal. In the interest of fairness, I’m going to adopt the policy of not putting any proposals/available players here in the main thread and save all of that for the comments.

Let’s also not forget to use the actual trading block feature on Yahoo site as well.

I also thought it might be interesting to post the league’s actual point leaders vs. projected point leaders at each position. I realize some players have had bye weeks and some haven’t, so it’s not 100% accurate, but it might stoke some further conversation. These rankings are based on total fantasy points scored:

QB
Projected #1 Drew Brees
Actual #1 Matt Schaub

RB
Projected #1 Adrian Peterson
Actual #1 Adrian Peterson

WR
Projected #1 Larry Fitzgerald
Actual #1 Miles Austin (whoa)

TE
Projected #1 Jason Witten
Actual #1 Owen Daniels

TEAM DEFENSE
Projected #1 New York Giants
Actual #1 Minnesota Vikings

K
Projected #1 Stephen Gostkowski
Actual #1 Lawrence Tynes

Still in the market for a QB. Everyone is available for the right price. Please dont offer me Andre Caldwell for Andre Johnson though. Or John Carlson for Dallas Clark.

    @KD

Tribe Slapahoe has Aaron Rodgers and Orton.

Sad Schaubs have P. Manning and Cassel.

    CrownMeNow has Roethlisberger and Flacco.

    Persianators have Brees and Hasselbeck.

DC has E. Manning and Romo.

Gerb’s Suckwads have Favre and McNabb.

Just trying to maybe help be a matchmaker. With the small roster sizes and most of the bye weeks gone, I imagine some of these guys would be willing to deal one of their QBs.

I am in the market for a TE.

I’m willing to include my current TE Greg Olsen in the deal.

    I’m willing to deal:

    RB Chris Johnson
    RB Shonn Greene

…and I’ll look at any offers for any other positions as well.

Got your trade proposal. Not sure if the upgrade of Andre Johnson over Marques Colston is enough to lose the rest of those players you included in the trade proposal.

    @Gerb
That’s certainly not an unreasonable offer, but right now Celek has 36 fantasy points, and Olsen has 31. Not enough of an upgrade for me to deal Greene, at least not at this point.

    Chris Johnson 53 points
    Greg Olsen 31 points

    Clinton Portis 32 points
    Tony Scheffler 24 points

I know these trades aren’t all based on points, but I don’t feel like that move would improve my team at all.

Make it Tony Gonzalez instead of Scheffler, and we might have something.

I might also be interested in B-Roth. Ryan has been okay, but I wouldn’t mind upgrading.

    Ben Roethlisberger

…and another player not named Ronnie Brown or Shonn Greene?

Anyone interested in a one-week rental trade?

Basically, I trade you a player at a position you need for next week because of the bye week, for a player in return for one week – then we trade back next week.

I need a QB for this Sunday only, and I’ll trade you a player you need for this Sunday only as well. Any offers?

Also, if anyone needs Greg Olsen, he’s on the block for super cheap.

I was inclined to take that trade, but looking at the Cards/Giants box score – Hightower had 4 carries to Beanie Wells’ 14. That kind of scares me.

I do think Hightower is a bit of an upgrade over Kevin Smith, but not enough for me to lose Hester in case Austin turns out to be a two-week wonder.

I dunno. Smith is on a horrible offensive team, but gets all the carries. Hightower is on a great offensive team, but now is apparently getting very few carries.

Braylon hasn’t shown me he can catch the ball consistently this season. Then with Sanchez struggling the passing game will suffer.

    No go I’m sorry.

I totally agree. I have wr depth so braylon is kinda left out as was harvin

what do y’all think of antoine bethea as a free agent safety for the texans

and I would love to pair cj spiller with slaton even though they are similar

    I’m kind of against Bethea.

I’m of the thinking that one way or another the Texans will be losing a significant piece on the offensive side of the ball. They have to go first pick this year on the Safety or CB. I’d prefer Safety though. Someone who can negate the deep threat and provide the hammer on run support.
