Being a HUGE critic of the American media, I just had to find some way to work this amusing and sad chapter in to my blog.
As to the actual question? I’m thinking – hoax. As you can tell from the poll to the right, I still believe in this team and think they can still attain an above-.500 record this year. Getting by the 4-1 Bengals might be a tall order, but this team is so Jekyll and Hyde that it won’t surprise me at all if they pull a stunner in Cincy.
Remember, Oiler fans, when our beloved boys in Columbia Blue would go to Cincinnati and it was a sure-thing loss almost every single time?
I’m sure you all remember 61-7.
Here are some more AFC Central memories for you… this clip is about Jerry Glanville versus the entire AFC Central, but at about the 2:10 mark, it specifically deals with the heated rivalry between Glanville and Sam Wyche, including mention of that infamous blowout I mentioned above. It also shows the famous post-game handshake between Glanville and Chuck Knoll, where Knoll admonishes Jerry about what he felt was dirty play by the Oilers.

I still believe that Glanville’s stupidity cost the Oilers at least one Superbowl appearance.

I like the attitude Glanville brought. Good football christian knock your teeth down your throat kind of attitiude. We need more of that.

Allen OU – I’m sorry about what’s going to happen later on today. I hope we can all still be friends after the beatdown that the Sooners are about to take.
