Listen to this, unless you hate Johnny Cash

Posted by: Chris on July 24th at 6:47PM

…and if you do, I feel bad for you.

The site’s been a little jacked-up tonight, as I’ve been relentlessly testing the podcast interface-to-be. As a test track – and with apologies to Matt and BFD for ripping their Saturday Night Tunes idea – check out my all-time favorite Cash song while I continue this incredibly ridiculous testing process.

If you aren’t able to hear this, or there’s some other kind of issue – please let me know.

That’s a bad ass song, but I actually prefer the Kristofferson version if you can believe it. Kris seems believable singing it; Johnny always seemed like a dude who would just be getting IN on Sunday morning and wouldn’t wake up until Tuesday.

I used to think this song was over-produced, because of the strings/semi-orchestral stuff in it, but it doesn’t bother me anymore. And really, picking a favorite Cash song? Not possible.

Agreed. I think, if pressed, I’d go with this one, “I’m Going To Jackson,” or “Folsom Prison Blues.” But, hell, even “Hurt” kicks ass and he was dead when he sang that.

The podcast made it’s way down I-35 without any problems. Loud and clear.

I completely agree w/ yall about Cash – there is no beginning and no ending to which songs I list as favorites… However I will have to list Delia’s Gone as one of my faves…. just because that’s my ‘fiance’s’ name…. and sometimes I feel like shooting her in the side.

Ah hell, add Ira Hayes Ghost Riders in the Sky and the Highwayman to the list.

This one never got too much air time…

He kind of evolved after that. Or he was writing a rap song.

Yea. The world changed quick between then and now. But it’s good to know the whole history … gives you perspective.

Just to update the Beta Testing (Look Ma, I’m a beta tester!) – the podcast even made it through the govt filters. So far so good.
