I just wanted to drop a quick note to say I’m still kicking. I was out of town for a long weekend, and didn’t really pay attention to anything Texans or sports-related. My WORST case scenario hope for this brief period of having no contact with the sports world was that at least ONE of our contract problem children would either be resolved, or at least be CLOSE to some sort of resolution. I figured DeMeco Ryans was the most likely candidate.
When I “plugged back in” today, I was horrified – yet, unsurprised – to see that exactly nothing has happened. Nothing at all. I know it’s not really something to worry about at this early stage, but I’d sure love to see at least some kind of movement.
I have a few more loose ends I need to tie up before I can jump back in to full blogger mode, but I wanted to pop my head in and say I’m still around, and I’ll be returning to form soon. Thanks for your patience, and if anyone has any “Draft Reaction – A Week Later” thoughts to share, I’d love to hear them.
More to come.

You right, it has been pretty slow on the Texans front since the draft. I think (hope) this is the time that Rick Smith is really focusing on those 3 contracts that need to be worked on. I think Owen will be 1st though. For some reason i think he would want to reward the one guy that never made a big fuse about anything.

Man, if it wasn’t for Kellen Winslow’s contract, I would totally agree with you.

Guys
Remember, these guys were probably working 14 hour days up to the draft. I bet most if not all of those guys took several days if not a week off to rest up, especially considering the OTAs, minicamp, and then training camp aren’t all that far away.
Those guys have to take SOME time off. I daresay he will approach the contracts when they come back.
