The death and resurrection of tables at HDH

Posted by: Chris on February 6th at 6:30AM

You may have noticed the Mock Draft Tracker has been a little berserk in the last 24-36 hours. Without getting in to too much technical mumbo-jumbo, the short version is this:

I use a plug-in to make the tables for the Mock Draft Tracker, and for those of you who have been reading me for a while – I use it for ALL the tables that I constantly seem to be churning out.

Well, the other day, I updated my WordPress software, and it turns out that particular plug-in is not compatible with the latest version of WordPress. I tracked down the person who created the plug-in, and they have no plans to make an updated version.

So basically – every single one of the 80+ tables that I’ve created in the last two years for this site now do not show up. I thought “no problem, I’ll just export the table data and work it into another type of table creation method.” It turns out, as part of this plug-in not being compatible with the latest version of WordPress – all the actual TABLE DATA is also now totally and permanently GONE.

So yeah, if you recall – those long involved free agent tracking tables I did, the Bush vs. Vince vs. Mario table from two years ago, the Slaton vs. Bush table from last year, etc., etc. – all gone. Vaporized into the vast nothingness of the Internet.

Luckily, I’ve now found a new way to create tables. They’re not quite as pretty as before, nor are they as easy to create – but I’ve found a way… so the tables will live on, but all the old ones are dead and gone forever. I’m sure I’ll miss them a lot more than you guys will, but man – that was a ton of work that’s just simply no longer in existence.

Anyway, the new Tracker is now up, and is a work in progress.

One response. Wanna say something?

    Dude.*shakes head* My condolences.

That’s some serious work down the drain…those tables were sweet too. Oh well, here’s to a new generation of fancy tables.
