Since I can barely bring myself to post anything after what happened Sunday, I thought I’d go with something that actually makes me feel good. Here are the last two weeks in the Steve Slaton vs. Reggie Bush “debate” that popped up a few weeks back.
I don’t think I need to remind anyone that when you look at these numbers, you also have to consider that Bush was the number 2 overall pick in 2006, and Slaton is a rookie who was the 89th player picked.
[table=32][table=33]
Though you wouldn’t know it from listening to the Monday Night Football broadcast, Reggie Bush is not Jesus Christ. Sure, he’s a great punt return man. Maybe the most dangerous in the league, even… but two things to keep in mind: 1) Dangerous punt returners aren’t drafted #2 overall, and 2) Though Bush had those two electric punt returns against Minnesota, let’s not forget that he also lost two fumbles as well.
So, I submit once again, that Steve Slaton has outplayed Reggie Bush every week since he became the Texans’ starting running back.
Oh – I forgot to add endorsements to the comparison table. Bush = I don’t know, but it seems like somewhere north of ONE THOUSAND. Also – number of times acting like an a-hole on the field, taunting, styling, and showboating like your skills resemble Jim Brown when you play more like Eric Metcalf – Bush has a healthy lead there as well… so maybe it’s a push.

To add fuel to the fire, Football Outsiders ranks Slaton 6th in DYAR and the mighty Reggie Bush is 32nd.
