Can someone rationalize the Case Keenum thing to me?

I feel pretty safe in saying he’ll never complete an NFL pass. But it means I have to put up with Dumb Uninformed Fan In Buffalo Wild Wings telling me about how Case should be starting because he threw for a bajillion yards in college.

I admit I’m being irrational here, but it just annoys me. It also comes off as a pander to UH fans. Not that they are the most dedicated NCAA fans or anything. It insults my intelligence.

why does a third string QB bother you so much? 4 insults all together… Coog hate much ? It’s a 3rd string QB slot…lighten up nimrod.

Case is a great QB and U of H alumni like my Dad will be thrilled if he signs with the Texans. Remember Tony Romo was undrafted and look where he is with the Cowboys now. I think calling ppl dumb and uninformed is very rude and inappropriate. Your intelligence? It has nothing to do with Case Keenum and his ability to grow and do well in the NFL. Many first round draft picks fail and many undrafted go on to do great things.

Considering games and jobs are kept or lost, I don’t think the Texans are pandering to UH fans. If they are, it’s just an undrafted free agent.

They definitely proved they don’t pander to fans when they passed on Vince Young.

This list is full of high potential undrafted free agents.

    I really like Dwight Jones.

I’m glad they signed Fangupo, in part because I think every team should have a big Polynesian nose tackle on their roster. I watched a handful of BYU games this year and the absolute positive on this guy is you can throw however many people you want at him and he’s not going to move. Coincidentally, this is also the negative…he’s not going to move. If the QB or RB got near him, they were toast, but not if he had to chase them for any great length. I’m hoping Kollar can coach him up, but I think he is what he is: an incredibly strong boulder of a man that excels at clogging up the middle. Not quite a fit in Wade’s penetration defense, but I’d love to see him make it.

Case Keenum is probably a homer type sign but maybe not. Look at the kid from A&M last yr, undrafted and Texans had promised him they’d bring him in as a FA they didn’t of course, he not white QB like V.Y. so not their type. Warren moon and Steve McNair was the once every 20 or so yrs exception to NFL/Houston norm. That said love Keenum and feel as a no risk High potential guy why not take a chance on him. but besides being undrafted hope he nothing like Romo in Dallas we wana win in the playoffs, think Keenum is the real deal!
As for Fanggupo he not tall but big and strong and prob need time to get better but he is like 27 so maybe not a “project” maybe his one dimension (clogger)is enuff for spot play. I wuda liked to see another homer Jean-Babtiste from Baylor not go to Ravens but stay in Texas with the Texans.
Like Dwight Jones too he hopefully stick around and develops into something sometimes a guy just needs to be given a chance to play to get better.

I think the Texans’ confidence in Yates, coupled with the need for (at the least) another camp arm, or even a 3rd QB for the regular season, is the reason they went after a rookie QB in Keenum. The signing of Keenum in particular vs. another rookie QB, I would say is because they liked what he had to offer, plus, the Texans run a very QB-friendly offense. Not to mention, as an undrafted free agent, he’s about as low a risk as you can get where rookie QB’s are concerned. I think popularity can be ruled out, because the Texans FO doesn’t place the emphasis on popular moves, even if some of their moves happen to be popular. The FO places their emphasis on what they believe actually helps or improves the team.
