Mario bags $50 million guaranteed from Buffalo

Posted by: Chris on March 15th at 7:28PM

Here are some thoughts from Mario Williams from a column by the always-excellent Mark Berman:

“I greatly appreciate the support and everything that I had to go through and the team had to go through, through these years. The guys and the women who truly stood behind us and myself, I can’t thank you guys enough. What happened, it was something that technically really couldn’t be avoided with the situation that was at hand. I just wish the fans and the Texans organization the very best.”

Mario Williams was one of my favorite Texans. The local boys never had a shot to re-sign him. If the difference between Mario staying in Houston and going to Buffalo would have been, say, five million dollars – then yeah, I might be a little bit bothered. But the reality is, we know the Texans are in Salary Cap Hell right now. Their offer, whatever it was, was not even in the same plane of existence as what the Bills offered.

So I wish Mario all the best. I’m also relieved that he isn’t signing with the Tennessee Titans, which I still maintain would have been his landing spot if not for Bud Adams forcing all of his murderous evil on Peyton Manning. I’d much rather see them sign Peyton then Mario. Call me crazy, or whatever.

Now… can we please have SOME positive news concerning the Texans? Anything??

Um…they haven’t cut another offensive lineman. That’s a plus nowadays

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone–we get to keep Myers. I’ll drink a beer to that!

The Titans get neither Peyton Manning nor Mario Williams: win and win for the Texans.
