Those of you that have been around a few years already know what this is… the rest – well, it’s pretty self explanatory. I’ll be updating the Mock Draft Tracker approximately once per week leading up to the draft.
The first table is a breakdown of how many times a particular player has been picked for the Texans within the set of mocks that I am following. The second table is a list of all the mocks sampled, complete with links. I typically add 10-20 more mocks as the draft gets closer, depending on the mock. I’ll drop the ones that don’t update enough for my standards. You will see a couple of draft sites duplicated – that means there is more than one writer doing mocks for that site. Next update I will include the writer names so you can differentiate.
I realize this is all pointless and kind of silly, but it’s just a fun offseason thing I do every year. For right now the Tracker will only exist in this entry, but this week I’ll put the permanent graphic up on the right sidebar (next to Texans on the Web) so you can click it and check whenever you like.

I dream of Quinn rushing next to Mario….
Feb 21, 2011 at 03:27:48
How are we going to solve our safety issue?
Feb 21, 2011 at 08:12:19
@Allen Quinn would look real nice in the 3-4 Defense at OLB. I just dont see Miller falling to #11 but if he does, man o man will I be doing backflips. But Quinn would be a huge upgrade at that position regardless. Ayers would be a great addition as well. Not too high on A.Smith right now
@Shaston…through Free Agency…there is no safety in this years draft class worthy of a #11 pick and we CanNOT be drafting anymore CB’s right now, unless his name rhymes with Datrick Jeterson lol
Feb 21, 2011 at 08:35:06
Wow Quinn dropping to us would be a dream!
Feb 21, 2011 at 09:52:35
I get turned off when I read the words “raw potential” over and over in a player’s scouting report, which was the case with Ayers, Smith, and Quinn. Right now, I’m digging Cameron Jordan.
Feb 21, 2011 at 11:16:07
If the Prince falls, I wonder if we take him. It’s tough to draft not knowing who we’re able to get in free agency. I just want us to draft best available. Even if that means on the offensive side of the ball. I don’t want to reach on a player just because it’s a position of need.
Feb 21, 2011 at 14:09:50
Zeirlien and McClain both have Glover Quin making the move to FS.
Feb 21, 2011 at 19:20:28
please Texans do not draft aldon smith!!!This guy has amobi okoye written all over him.
Feb 21, 2011 at 22:10:28
I like Quinn or Miller the most as our outside rush linebacker. How does Aldon Smith have Amobi written all over him? The only thing they have in common is “raw potential” which u could say about every 4-3 DE converting to 3-4 OLB.
Feb 22, 2011 at 09:52:28
On an average team, I like the idea of moving Quinn to FS, but the Texans won’t have ANY even AVERAGE DBs on the team if they do that. They would need to draft/sign at least two new DBs. We need some experience back there, so I’d rather see them use free agency to acquire a backfield. Will there be a free agency? Scary stuff.
Feb 22, 2011 at 10:48:44
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
to prince. Unless he runs good at the combine, which he wont. he is a 4.55 guy, and with k jax not being very fast, we need a speed guy
give me rashad carmichael in the 3-4 round over him ANYDAY
Feb 22, 2011 at 12:08:55
Prince a 4.55 guy? AHAHAHAHA!!! I will be shocked if he runs anything over a 4.41. That man is a shut down corner and would be a blessing if he falls all the way to 11. Especially as bad as our secondary is we desperately need a corner that can tackle. Carmicheal is a piss poor tackler. Makes no difference how fast you are if people run right by or over you.
Feb 22, 2011 at 12:29:54
It seems like the only OLB worth 11 might be Miller, and he’ll be gone. I’m starting to appreciate Quinn as an OLB, but his lack technique worries me.
I wouldn’t want Prince – we don’t need another slow rookie. I also don’t see any DT’s outside of Fairley worth the 11th pick. I think Darius played the 5. The players I like most at 11 are Cameron Jordan and JJ Watt, but DE shouldn’t be a high priority with Antonio and Mario.
I’d like them to trade down into the 20′s and pick up a OLB like Justin Houston or Ryan Kerrigan, but I say that every year.
I’ve seen Julio Jones mentioned at 11 also, but he reminds me of our own J. Jones – real fast with inconsistent hands and routes.
Feb 22, 2011 at 14:38:14
Joe,
I’ve read conflicting reports on Prince – well, sort of. Everybody likes him. It’s just about how much. This site sings his praises, but even they say he’s a 4.49 guy who was inconsistent in big games. Mostly, I just don’t think we need another rookie corner. I think we HAVE to get at least one proven vet either at CR or FS. Don’t know much about Carmichael, but I agree that speed doesn’t make much difference if he can’t or won’t tackle – see Bryce McCain.

Is it possible to see who got 2010 predictions correct?
Feb 22, 2011 at 17:21:34
I gotta Agree on T.Willms with that one. I played CB in the Big 12 at Baylor so I’m real familiar with the players that come out of that league every year. Prince is a very aggressive corner which is his forte, but he does not have the make up speed that u would like when he bites on routes because of his aggressiveness. Prime example, when Prince lined up against Okstate receiver Justin Blackmon all game long. Blackmon had 5 receptions for about 150yds and 2 touchdowns. Now Prince is going to go against talent like that every week(most weeks) in the NFL and the fact that he gave up those type of stats and your talkin bout bringing in another CB with the lack of experience and talent we already have on the texans roster, scares me….The only way I can see Carmichael being drafted in the later rounds is if you bring in a veteran corner so he can learn, cuz then I think he would be a steal in long run…no veteran CB = waste of a pick….unless ur name is Patrick Peterson lol
Feb 22, 2011 at 19:40:33
How about Acho in round 2.
Trade down and target Phil Taylor in the 20s.
Dan Williams was a solid NT prospect last year and was picked 26.
Julio Jones reminds you of Jacoby Jones.
oooooooooookkkay…
Feb 22, 2011 at 20:53:26
I watched every big 12 game this year except for Baylor TT and ATM TExas. So all of nebraskas games. OSU and OU both torched prince, as did some shmuck from Colorado
Feb 22, 2011 at 23:57:51
All the cornerbacks aside from Peterson who we could trade up for are a waste we need some experience in the backfield. Kubiak and smith know they can’t afford to trust a starting corner spot to another rookie. The deep 3-4 old talent will make it easy to trade up or down depending on who they think will fit best. They could trade back and still get one of those guys they think we should get at 11 smith, ayers, Kerrigan, and Houston could all be there in the 20′s. Julio Jones is an upgrade over jacoby but not enough to take him at 11.
Feb 23, 2011 at 10:21:39
I will love to get vonn miller and peterson but we will have to trade up to get them . If aj or jones fall we should get them . Andre johnson carried our wr too long and his injury s the past can be a concern . We need a number 2 wr that can be 1 i.e like the colts did with harrison and wayne and what green bay is doing with donald and jenkings . we have a lot of 4 type wr playing as number 2 ans 3 ‘s . also it will make andre johnson even better
Feb 23, 2011 at 10:22:56
is quinn that good , he did sat out all last year
Feb 23, 2011 at 16:57:34
I would take Quinn over Miller because Miller is just straight speed with no moves. I think Quinn would be better. I also think by taking Quinn, and we can move back about 3 spots and get another late round pick. I would like to move K. Jackson to nickle, G. Quin to FS and pick up C. Rogers from Washington and J. Joseph from Cincinnati and in the 3rd round pick up a SS
Feb 24, 2011 at 00:20:31
Thanks! This is very complete. I’m glad I found this http://www.houstondiehards.com website. We hope for more updates.

Instead of trading up, I’m happy to sit and see who falls. I don’t think we really need another rookie corner, but Prince looked good in the combine. WR isn’t a top priority. Just from reading the scouting reports on Julio Jones, I stated that he reminded me of Jacoby. After seeing him on a broken foot and learning that he played with a broken hand, I like this guy. Heck, Green might even be there at 11. There will be some good football players at 11, but the one OLB we need will be long gone. Right now, betwen need and value, I’m hoping Darius is there.
