Let’s do this quick, because we don’t have a lot of time before the end of the world.
I suspect that most of you would trade Mario. I’m asking for two reasons.
Reason 1 – “Goud” commented in the previous entry asking the same question, and it got me curious. Actually, he asked “would you trade Mario for a top 10 pick,” and I changed it to first round pick because I don’t think many would say no to a top 10 pick for Mario right now. Not that there’s anything wrong with Mario, but more because there is uncertainty about how he will perform in a new defense, and he’s going to be in line for a new contract soon – a huge, huge new contract. With his injury problems, the amount of money he’s going to command, and those 3-4 questions, it’s at least a topic worth discussing.
Reason 2 – No time for a long post tonight because THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END!! WE ***MIGHT*** GET TWO INCHES OF SNOW!!! IT WILL BE LIKE LIVING ON HOTH FOR LESS THAN 24 EXCRUCIATING HOURS SINCE IT’S GOING TO GET UP TO 55 ON SATURDAY AND 66 ON SUNDAY!!
GET TO A GROCERY STORE NOW AND BUY WATER!! BECAUSE I’M HERE TO TELL YOU IT IS OVER!! ALSO – HOT POCKETS! BUY HOT POCKETS!!!

I would trade him to cinci for their 2nd and swap of firsts in a heartbeat

We would have the 4th, 34th, and 41st picks

How about a trade to the Vikings?
They have a need at LE.
The Vikings would have to consider pairing Jared Allen and Mario.
I’d like the Texans to target Marvin Austin in round 2 to play RE.
He doesn’t interview well. Did Dez Bryant interview well? He still made some plays.
What if the Texans used the franchise tag on Dunta last year and drafted Dez?
The defense would would still b poor but Dez would b a Texan.
What ifffff……

Your calm in the face of imminent (non)disaster is an inspiration to all of us.

I guess they need to decide what their going to do with him quick be it trade or sign to reasonable contract. I dint think giving a first round away again without anything to show for it (Carr, Robinson, etc) is going to get us anywhere Mario can break out but I would rather get Jordan with a rookie contract. He’ll maybe we could get some LB’s or DB’s to turn this defense around.

On second thought smith/kubiak would f**k up the pick as they have.

Like you said, he has injury issues so that should come into play when his contract comes up. He shouldn’t command as much based on that fact. If he does, and what he asks for is too much then I say trade him. If not, then keep him b/c even IF we were to get a top ten pick, there is no way to know if that player will be a bust or not. At least with Mario you know what you are getting.

What we know we have with Mario is a physicl freak of nature with a pretty good motor. We know he doesn’t have many pass rushing moves despite being in the league a few years. We know he plays injured, but he’s injured a lot and he plays much worse when he’s hurt.
So, if anyone offered a first for him, I would take it. I think Cameron Jordan would be a good replacement, and much cheaper. He already has better technique.

Mario Williams is injury-prone and has not lived up to expectations these last couple of years. I think we should trade him before an injury ends his career.

A thousand times yes. Mario simply hasnt lived up to the hype. He’s sort of Vince Young like in the hype. People keep telling me all about how he “just wins” (VY) or “just doesnt stop” (MW), and I have seen evidence to the contrary with my own eyes. Mario is hurt too much and has only one move. I want him to be Super Mario as much as the next guy, but he’s just not going to be. I was also on the D’Brickshaw bandwagon.
