Texans sign McClover, Walker – and site updates

Author: Chris | Files under Houston Texans & NFL, Site Announcements

For the long weekend, I’m going to leave some site announcements up while I prep for what should be a very busy week on HoustonDiehards.com. I want this to stay at the top of the page for a couple of days, so if the Texans make any roster moves in the next couple of days, [...]

Texans place RB Chris Brown on IR… but why?

Author: Chris | Files under Houston Texans & NFL

EDIT: Soc comments that NFL Network’s Adam Schefter reported Chris Brown has a herniated disc… so now we know. Curse you, Time Warner Cable, for not carrying NFL Network. At least we know we won’t be playing the “will Chris Brown be able to play this week or not” game every week. The Texans got [...]

Chron says Bulman is cut, HT.com says he’s not

Author: Chris | Files under Houston Texans & NFL

UPDATE: The Chronicle has corrected their error. So now Chron.com is reporting that Tim Bulman was among today’s cuts: Defensive players waived included cornerbacks Derrick Roberson and Dexter Wynn, linebackers Kevis Coley and Ben Moffitt and linemen Tim Bulman, Gabe Long and Jesse Nading So uh, we need some clarification there. I’m waiting. Impatiently.

Texans cut 21, 1 cut still to be made

Author: Chris | Files under Houston Texans & NFL

The big news is that Rosevelt Colvin has been cut. Not surprised on that one at all. However, Chris Brown inexplicably has not been cut… but Gary Kubiak hinted that he could be the final cut depending on how their latest evaluation of his injury goes. Here are today’s 21 roster cuts: FB Jon Abbate [...]

Rejoice, all the nonsense is over

Author: Chris | Files under Houston Texans & NFL

Well, that was scintillating. Because the Texans don’t care about the Austin market, I was only able to listen to the game on streaming internet radio, and let me tell you – I was on the edge of my seat. We now await the final 22 cuts. Names I would not be at all surprised [...]

Can we find a place for Harry Williams?

Author: Chris | Files under Houston Texans & NFL

Prior to tonight’s pre-season finale, the Texans will do a very classy thing by honoring wide receiver/special teams gunner Harry Williams. He of course suffered a cracked vertebrae and partial paralysis against the Cowboys last Friday, ending his football career. I wish there was SOME capacity that he could stay with the team. Someone who [...]

Mario Williams on ESPN Magazine cover!

Author: Chris | Files under Houston Texans & NFL

Found this via the official Texans Message Board. The magazine is supposed to hit the stands on Friday. While I’m very, very happy about this – I have not yet been able to confirm if this is a national cover, or if it’s regional like every other NFL Preview magazine. The smart money’s on the [...]

Ahman Green restructures his contract

Author: Chris | Files under Houston Texans & NFL

I tell ya, that Rick Smith is a smart cat. Yes, to this point, the Ahman Green signing has been a complete and total disaster, but Smith helped to take some of the sting out of it by getting Green to restructure his contract on Wednesday. Click above for the details, but the short version [...]

Love for Dunta Robinson as he goes on the PUP

Author: Chris | Files under Houston Texans & NFL

When people ask me who my favorite Texan player is, my immediate response is Mario Williams. I marvel at the way he’s never said “I told you so” to the naysayers. He’s never acted out or snapped at reporters despite all the garbage he had to put up with. That said, I might have to [...]

Fenton, Carter cut, Robinson to the PUP list

Author: Chris | Files under Houston Texans & NFL

The Texans now have their roster at 75 with the release of WR Tim Carter and OL Mark Fenton. OL Scott Jackson was placed on injured reserve, and Dunta Robinson was officially put on the PUP list, which likely didn’t make him very happy. Obviously, no surprises here. The real difficulty will come Saturday when [...]
